A New Study Suggests Black People Are Watching Way Too Much TV

A new study published by Nielsen rating agency, shows that on average African Americans are clocking in a whopping 7 hours and 12 minutes a day TV-ing it (as Thomas Williamson of the NY Daily News would put it). That's more than two hours per day above the national rate of 5 hours and 11 minutes, and just shy of four hours per day more than the amount of TV watched by Asian-Americans, who clock in a relatively meager 3 hours and 14 minutes a day.

So what's the problem? According to Williamson, we are, as the media theorist Neil Postman pointed out in 1985, “amusing ourselves to death.”
