Abducted 3-Month-Old NYC Baby Returns Home 24-Years-Later

October 5, 2015

Carlina White, kidnapped from a New York hospital at just 3-weeks-old and never found, has finally reunited with her biological parents.

According to the NY Daily News, it was August 1987 when the little girl's abduction – the only known hospital kidnapping in New York history – stunned the city, and stumped investigators for more than two decades.

Five years ago, the mother, Joy White told the Daily News that she still prayed daily for the return of her daughter – and believed Carlina would one day return.

It's been twenty-four long years, but that day finally came on Jan. 4 when Joy received photos of the missing girl that was believed to be Carolina.

“I was screaming, I was so excited,” said Joy White. “As soon as I saw those pictures I said, 'That's my daughter.' I saw myself in her.”

Carlina had contacted an organization for missing and exploited children after becoming suspicious about the neglectful people raising her. On Jan. 18, a DNA match confirmed that Carlina was definitely the missing baby that Joy and the rest of her family had been waiting for, to come back home.
