Avion Lawson, 17, had faced up to 11 life sentences, plus 50 years after his involvement in the brutal gang rape of a woman and the beating of her son. After testifying against his co-defendants, he was sentenced Monday to 30 years in prison.
Three others in the case, Jakaris Taylor, 17, Nathan Walker, 18, and Tommy Poindexter, 20, were all sentenced in October to life in prison. (The Miami Herald)
When I first read this story a while back I was extremely bothered by how these young men did this mother and her son. They reportedly raped her for hours, beat her son, and then made her son join in with raping his mother. They followed it all up by forcing the mother to perform oral sex on her own child. I still can't imagine the torment this mother and her son must have endured. At-least now she can rest some knowing that justice has finally been served.
