It appears that Weekend Pussy has been quite sullabent since 2006.
The last time I spoke with Hil, the Tokyo fashion designer of the Weekend Pussy Hood Couture collection, she stated that the company was opening a USA based store in Los Angeles, CA. I took it as they were growing and I was, and if they are still around still am willing to travel the miles to visit because the collection just so happens to be one that I truly adore.
In an interview with MF (not mofos) but a Tokyo magazine, they mention that Hil started her career picking up scraps off the floor and pinning them together, and it escalated to the point where such fashion icons as Mila Jonavich were sporting her super sexy designs. They further mention that most of Japan's pop divas donned her garb for shows and tv. I actually find that to be quite amusing considering the amount of "real" trash on top of quite boring fashion that my eyes see in the limelight on a very regular basis.
In Hil's own defense, she states that her clothes are for "everyone" and that is what separates her from the luxurous brands that market themselves on their exclusivity. I totally agree. I for #1 absolutely enjoy being a trend setter and separating myself on most occasions from the average top designer logo chic. It's sad that different is hard to find.
One of the things that caught my attention about the Weekend Pussy collection (besides the name) is the promotional advertising. It is exactly what it says it is, "Hood Couture". From the creative hairdo's, home girl atmospheres and city backgrounds, she is representing nothing but the truth, which is classic and unordinary street style and sexy fashion. I love it.
