L’Officiel Paris magazine is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. To commemorate the event, Beyonce was chosen to participate in an African-themed photo shoot for the cover and inside pages of the publication’s March 2011 issue.

Draped in chic African garments, Beyonce posed for the camera, where in one scene she's shown with her face painted black as a tribute to African activist and musician, Fela Kuti.
I'm sure many native African's are offended by this shoot and question why they didn't use a real African model. Even Naomi Campbell would have been a better choice in terms of skin tone, but they probably wouldn't have gotten the attention they were seeking and successfully garnered by using what many consider blackface.
