One would think circuit court judges had a bit more face recognition from their county deputies, but apparently not.
When officers arrived to the Florida family residence of one of the only black judges in Broward County, on a 911 call for a possible intruder being in the home, they allegedly had no idea who they were pointing their guns at. It wasn't until a higher ranking officer recognized who the judge was, that the rest of the force were called off.
“Judge Holmes, you know, these guys may not know who you are. I know who you are. This could have been so different,” said the officer. “Everyone of ya’ll know me. Ya’ll been before me,” the judge replied.
A sheriff’s office report blames the neighbor for providing the wrong address (listen to the 911 call below). It also allegedly paints Holmes and her family as being uncooperative (read more).
