During an exclusive interview with Access back in February, Fantasia announced that she was going back to school and that it wouldn't be long before she would get her degree.
“Yep, going back to school to get my diploma…. of course I can't go in a school because I would probably like, start a riot , but I'm gonna get a teacher to come teach me everyday. I'm gonna get my diploma starting in maybe three weeks. So you know, it's gonna be tough, it's gonna be hard, but it's gonna be a testimony to a lot of young people and a lot of people who are in my shoes. I wanna go back to show them you can go back, it doesn't matter, never too old. Go back,” she said.
Now, at just few weeks shy of her 26th birthday, June 30, Fantasia has finally graduated. The American Idol winner who caught much flack for dropping out of high school several years ago, accepted her honorary degree after passing her GED. She was awarded by being allowed to walk across the stage as part of Andrews High School graduating class of 2010.
