Gearing up for the highly anticipated film “For Colored Girls,” premiering Nov. 5, a national “Women’s Empowerment Poetry Slam” sponsored by Tyler Perry himself, as promotion for the film, has kicked off.
Last night, Tessica Williams from Mobile, AL took home a winning prize of $300 for her poem on full-figured women being abused in relationships.
Also, shown below is a new clip from the film that surfaced the web (via Hello Beautiful). It shows actress Loretta Devine poetically “Going Off” on her boyfriend who she has loved for eight months, two weeks and a day, but she's finally had enough of being mistreated.
