It seems the holiday season can sometimes be the saddest time of the year for many people, and for the Hines family that's exactly what it is. A fatal car accident leaves five of their family members dead.
The accident happened as the family headed west on I-10 through Ascension Parish, a tire on the mini-van blew out. The van rolled several times across the median and ended up in the eastbound lanes of the interstate.
The van was believed to be over-packed carrying two adults and 13 children. So far the driver and 4 children are confirmed dead, and 7 others listed in critical condition.
