India Arie’s Controversial Cocoa Butter Cover

India Aria is one of the very few who is known in the industry to embrace her natural skin tone and hair. Just the thought of her bleaching her skin to make herself appear lighter is absurd. But, none-the-less, the cover for her latest single “Cocoa Butter” has raised the question for many. Considering the title of the song, the conversation makes for great PR, and aside from expressing her amusement at the idea that she is trying to be a lighter shade, she made it very clear that’s far from the case.

She also wanted to make it clear that she is still happy in the skin she is in despite the controversy.

“Personally speaking! I’m happy to say I have NOT BLEACHED my skin. ROTF at the thought. 1. I wouldn’t endanger my health that way. 2. I’m so in love with myself I have no DESIRE to BLEACH myself. Lol 3. The GLOW you see IS (magnificent) lighting. 4. THE LIGHT you see, well that’s all ME!”
