In the latest issue of Essence magazine, Janet Jackson, who appears on the front cover, and features an eight-page photo spread with CSI: Miami actor Adam Rodriguez claims she has a brand new attitude.
“There comes a time when you don’t give an F*** what people say or think, you just do your thing because it’s finally about you….,” she said.
After her break-up with Jermaine Dupri in 2009, Janet insists that she’s happy being single. “I’m so fortunate. I’m a free agent. I’m not trapped in a contract where I’m unhappy. I’m very free, and I love this feeling. I can do whatever I want.”
Janet also addressed media comments about the age difference between her and her alleged new boy toy, Wissam Al Mana, a man who is said to be ten years her junior.
“It’s horrible,” she said. “It’s really awful, and I have to believe it was a man that started that. Mother always raised us to believe that age was just a number.
“All of us (my sisters, my brothers) we’ll just tell you our ages because it’s all about where you are mentally and how you feel about yourself.”
Janet is currently working on a self-help, diet tip, and exercise book entitled: “True You.”
The actress who has had a long, public battle with her weight, said: ‘I wanted to write this book because I wanted kids to have something to read and know that they are beautiful as they are.
‘It took me a good minute to get here. It really did. But I love my life. I only wish I had this confidence when I was younger,” she said.
