Jessica Tata, the woman accused of fleeing the country after a fire at her Houston day care center killed four children is back in the United States.
Tata's brother, Ron Tata said relatives in Nigeria informed him early Saturday that his sister went to the U.S. consulate to surrender.
“She just felt really, really, really bad about the whole situation, especially for the families. It would be the right thing to do,” he said during a phone interview from his home in Houston.
According to reports, Tata arrived at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta shortly after 5:00 a.m. Monday on a flight from Lagos International Airport in Lagos, Nigeria, and is now awaiting extradition to Texas to face manslaughter and other child endangerment charges.
