It's always sad when somebody dies, and even more when it's somebody so talented such as Teddy Pendergrass. He was definitely a musical inspiration, giving us hit singles such as: “If You Don't Know Me By Now”, “Love TKO”, “Turn Off The Lights”, and one of my all time favorites, “When Somebody Loves You Back.”
Teddy Pendergrass first rose to fame as the vocalist with Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, and then went on to a successful solo career as one of R&B's great love men, scoring five multiplatinum albums in a row and landing a fistful of singles on the charts. Pendergrass lost the use of his legs in a 1982 auto accident, but he bravely held on to his will to perform, and from his wheelchair was still knocking audiences flat around the world.
The following video is a segment from his 2002 Valentines Day tour, “From Teddy With Love.”
