Red Carpet: Celebs Rocking The Braided Updo

Creating updo hair styles is similar to sculpting a masterpiece. Each style will be somewhat different, and serve a unique purpose… formal, funky, fun, even whimsical.

An updo can be whipped up in one quick sweep for a casual feel, or labored over for hours from start to finish, depending on the function.

Hollywood’s leading ladies have crowned braided updos as the look of the moment. Though the style is a nod to schoolgirl chic, the look is playful
yet elegant. “It’s about doing something that’s a little more special,” says Renato Campora, the hairstylist who primped Anne Hathaway’s locks for the Golden Globes. “You want to create a mix of texture, but the end result should be pretty, not overdone.”

Keyshia Knight Pulliam, Sanaai Lathan and Ashanti have all rocked the braided updo to the most recent events which include the NAACP 40th Annual Image Awards held on February 12, 2009 and The BET Inaugural Ball held on January 20, 2009.

From past events, Beyonce has somewhat made the look popular by wearing the look on very many occasions.

Also shown wearing the look well are Rhianna and Angela Bassett.

If you think you can’t get the updos done yourself, then consider a wiglet with or without casual braids. Chignon hair pieces can be found online as well as any local beauty supply store and you can match them to your natural hair.
