For many of us, there are several holidays that we are happy to have a day off from work to relax alone, or gather around family and friends, and enjoy festivities. We sometimes tend to forget what the holiday is all about. Memorial Day, which a lot of us may even get confused with Labor Day, is one of those holidays. It's a holiday that if we are not paying attention, the purpose of it is buried in the back of our minds, and forgotten.
Today, President Obama didn't forget. He remembered our fallen soldiers this Memorial Day (all the men and women who have fought for our country), as he laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery, the hallowed grounds of the nation's war dead. (see the video below)
