Celebrity Hair: Amerie and The Many Different Shades of Black Blonds

Forget about feeling different for trying something new and exciting with your hair this season, because as it seems, bold is the way to go. Looking at hair color in particular, experimenting with a variety of shades (including all the colors of the rainbow) has become the thing to do. You definitely wouldn't be the only one. R&B singer Amerie is the latest celebrity to test her inner diva and go from dark hair to light blonde. She stepped out with her new look last night while hosting the Grey Goose 7th Annual Black Affair in Dallas, TX.

"I’ve always wanted to go platinum blonde, and I figured I’d finally just do it," Amerie said in an interview with Rap Up magazine. "One of the things that inspired me are photos I’ve seen of children in the Solomon Islands. They are very brown-skinned, and a lot of them grow white-blonde hair naturally. The contrast in dark skin tone and extremely light hair is really beautiful to me. So I just went for it!"

Other celebs who have recently or at some point challenged their wild sides by going blonde are Mya, Cassie, Tiny, Christina Milian, Keyshia Cole, Beyonce, Keri Hilson, and of course the dark skinned queen blondie of them all, Mary J. Blige.

Although going bleach blonde has been known to be the most time consuming, risky and overall damaging processes when it comes to coloring the hair, with all the new products on the market that claim to simplify things, along with the right guidance and proper care, it doesn't have to be a total nightmare. For best results, visit a stylist who specializes in hair color, or play it safe and just do a wig or a weave!

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Under Fire for Using Several Racial Slurs

Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. took to Ustream earlier today to do one of the things he does best; talk sh*t, but several sensitive, non-fighting souls are not taking his offensive words too lightly. Some are even going as far as calling his rant about the Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao, racist.Mayweather referred to Pacquiao using terms such as midget and faggot on several occasions, and he also referenced a few Asian stereotypes by saying he will force Pacquiao to "make some sushi rolls and cook some rice." "We're going to cook him with some cats and dogs," he said.

What are your thoughts? Is this acceptable considering his profession, or is it just plain wrong and ignorant (particularly since he made his comments public)?

Is T.I. aka Last Name Harris (Known by A Number), Institutionalized?

Actor/Rapper T.I. was reportedly arrested last night for drug possession. This would make arrest number 34 according to a statement he made via Hip Hop DX shortly before his most recent one year prison sentence which made arrest number 33.
"I’ve been arrested somewhere around 32 times,” he said at that time.
According to TMZ, T.I. and his wife "Tiny" were pulled over on the Sunset Strip after making an illegal U-turn. Police reported the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle prompted a search and as a result they found a controlled substance which appeared to be ecstasy. The biggest problem here is that T.I. is constantly advocating for our youth. Despite all the encouraging words T.I. spills, his being arrested is what they see. I personally loved the little dude in his new movie "Takers," but with real life scenes like this and his proven inability to steer clear of trouble, he's far from a role model.

Forgive and Forget with Terry McMillan's "Getting To Happy"

If you've ever been in a relationship that was damaged beyond repair, then you know that sometimes it's just hard to forgive and forget. Just the thought or presence of the one who's hurt you almost always brings back those unforgettable memories that broke your heart and created mad hate.We can think of several movies that play out these types of relationships, such as Tyler Perry's "Diary of A Mad Black Woman," Martin Lawrence's "It's A Thin Line Between Love and Hate," and of course Terry McMillan's "Waiting To Exhale." And while "Diary of A Mad Black Woman" is the only movie that actually had somewhat of a happy ending by showing that we can forgive without forgetting and still be friends, award winning author Terry McMillan takes us deeper with her new book "Getting To Happy."

"Getting To Happy" is the sequel to McMillan's 1992 blockbuster "Waiting to Exhale." In this sequal McMillan revisits Savannah, Gloria, Robin and Bernadine, the four African-American friends who starred in the film. Fifteen years have passed, bringing heartbreak but also joy to the quartet still living, loving and laughing in Arizona.Terry McMillan tells USA Today that in her sequel to Waiting to Exhale, her four black heroines must "learn how to heal and to start over." "These women have to find their center again, to give themselves permission to feel joy and delight and to learn how to heal and to start over. A lot of women are afraid to start over, but it is possible," said McMillan. "I have forgiven my ex-husband, and we are now friends." In the following video, McMillan shows that she's not really a great public speaker, but it sounds like her book is a must read, especially for those who have a hard time just letting things go.

Getting To Happy is currently being pre-ordered on Amazon.com with a scheduled ship date set for September 7, 2010.

LA Woman Gets 10 Days In Jail for Showing Her A** to The Judge

When Kimberly Senette showed up to a Louisiana courthouse in support of her brother who was about to be sentenced for car jacking and assault, Judge Steve Windhorst found her in contempt for wearing shorts so low-slung that her underwear could be seen. Her brother was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his crimes, and she was slapped with 10 days in county jail for hers.

Although released early, the alleged former American Idol contestant may have learned a valuable fashion no-no; saggy pants my dear is just not a good look, and in some cases it's flat out illegal.

Now Playing: Cameo "Shake Your Pants" (Throwback)

"I always like to strut my thang -- shaking my pants to the rhythm swing... Do you wanna dance?"

It's okay to laugh while watching this flashback video by the legendary group, "Cameo," because I sure did. The funniest part is that this song has a long lasting groove effect as it's still a hit even today (unlike most of the music that's being put out that we have to painfully endure).

Spiritual Pimpin: Selling False Hopes and Robbing You Blind

This video had me spooked, made me laugh, and pissed me off all at the same time. Although I don't agree that all the people they included in the spiritual pimpin scam are guilty, I applaud whoever made the video, because it wasn't too long ago I was telling somebody how much I despise television networks such at BET who promote religious shows that sell people false hope and rob them blind.

Now Playing: Cee Lo Green "F**k You" (Official Video)

Recording Artist, Cee Lo Green came original with this track that speaks to all the liars, cheaters, and ungrateful people out there that don't respect their relationships, or others. For those people Cee Lo has two very aggressive words: "F**k You," (too funny).

This is the first I've heard of this artist, and I'm surprised since his single is very popular and has recieved over 4,000,000 views since premiering on his youtube channel 2 weeks ago. The new track is off his forthcoming solo LP, "Lady Killer," and scheduled to hit stores sometime this fall.
