Reflecting on the program's success, the show's driving force Bill Cosby put it down to a mixture of humor and warmth.

“It's funny,” Bill said after a selection of clips raised laughs amongst the former cast.

“It's funny and there is love there. It is all genuine, it is real.” he said.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who played teenage son Theo says, “Twenty-five years later and the show is just as funny, just as meaningful and just as relevant as it was when it came out.”
