First, lets start off by congratulating Alicia Keys for delivering a healthy baby boy last night in a New York hospital. Reps for the couple confirmed that Keys, 29, and Beatz, 32, “joyfully welcomed” their first son together, whom they named Egypt Daoude Dean.
Now, did you know this weekend was a special three day weekend? Well, if you didn’t, don’t feel bad, because not too many people did. It’s called Community Healing Days, a three day period on the third weekend of every October designed to focus Black people on eliminating the tired, but powerful, myth of black inferiority. The celebration is sponsored by the Community Healing Network and championed by Dr. Maya Angelou.
This year, on October 15, 16 and 17, Dr. Angelou is asking folks to wear something sky blue to show our collective determination to turn the pain of the blues into the sky blue of unlimited possibilities. All you have to do is wear something light blue like the color of the sky on a bright sunny day. (learn more)
