Willow Smith's Message to Young Girls: Don't Be Afraid to Be YOU

Willow Smith is definitely on the rise to fame beyond just being recognized as the daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith. With the release of her new single “Whip My Hair,” at just 9-years-old, the young lady is getting more shine than celebrities who have been in the industry for years.

During a recent interview with MTV, Willow said that she wants people (particularly young girls) to know that besides the song being a fun, head bopper, there is a message in it as well, and that's:

"Don't be afraid to be yourself, and don't let anybody tell you that that's wrong. Because the best thing is you,” she explained.

Sounds like Will and Jada are instilling confidence, and high self-esteem in their children at a very young age. I think that's important, especially in a society where African American's have a really hard time accepting who they are as a race.

The following is a clip of Will telling his son Jaden, in their last film together, “Pursuit To Happiness,” pretty much the exact same thing as Willow states in her message above.
