When it comes to being black, Dr. Martin Luther King once had a few choice words to encourage and inspire the people of our race. His message was to love yourself, because if you don't nobody else will. Love yourself, despite the turmoil much of the world has put us through because of the color of our skin.
“We don't have anything to be ashamed of. Somebody told a lie one day. They couched it in language. They made everything black ugly and evil. Look in your dictionary and see the synonym for the word black. It's always something degrading, and low and sinister. Look at the word white. It's always something pure. But I want to get the language right tonight. I want to get the language so right, that everybody here will cry out, “YESSSS, I'm black. I'm proud of it. I'm black. I'm beautiful!!!” — Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
