Rapper Common and Jill Scott's Invitation To The White House Causes Outrage

October 5, 2015

First Lady Michelle Obama faced stinging criticism today (May 11) for the choice of entertainers who were invited to The White House to help celebrate American Poetry.

Police officers and politicians voiced their disgust at the guest list, which included rapper Lonnie Rashid Lynn Jr. aka Common, and soul singer Jill Scott.

The problem they have with Common is that he is believed to have praised a convicted cop killer, and called for the burning of George Bush, through his past lyrics. The problem they have with Scott is that she is believed to be against interracial marriage.

Common tried to defend himself in a Facebook post before the event, which read:

“Politics is politics and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I respect that…. The one thing that shouldn’t be questioned is my support for the police officers and troops that protect us every day. Peace yall!”

More on this madness when you continue…
