I don't know who would be bold enough, bored enough, or even hungry enough to eat a cupcake worth $27,000, but whoever might be up for it will be pleased to know it can, and is patiently waiting to be bought and done.
The Golden Phoenix, a completely edible cupcake (worth $27,000), was created by Shafeena Yusuff Ali, CEO of couture bakery Bloomsbury’s in The Dubai Mall. The idea was to bring London’s quality confections to the UAE. The ingredients include vanilla beans and cocoa, Italian organic flour, and several sheets of edible 23-carat gold wrapping.
According to the bakery, the Golden Phoenix can take up to 48 hours to prepare, and must be eaten in 15 minutes or its chocolate will melt, causing the gold flakes to peel, and flavor to be altered.
